Statistical surprises and stories in time series data – Louise Addison
Louise Addison (Howick College) presented at the 2015 statistics teachers’ day. This day was jointly hosted by the Department of Statistics and the Auckland Mathematics Association.
The big surprise for Louise this year was discovering she was teaching Year 13 statistics for the first time in about 10 years?! Louise shared her resources she designed and used to develop students’ statistical insight that were focused around the idea of ‘surprises’ in data. The time series resources used the context of baby names, a context that immediately captures students attention!
