Statistical surprises and stories for Inference – Louise Addison
Louise Addison (Howick College) presented at the 2015 statistics teachers’ day. This day was jointly hosted by the Department of Statistics and the Auckland Mathematics Association.
The big surprise for Louise this year was discovering she was teaching Year 13 statistics for the first time in about 10 years?! Louise shared resources she designed and used to develop students’ statistical insight that were focused around the idea of ‘surprises’ and stories to be found in data. Louise has developed a useful overview of formal report writing for this standard, as well as easy to follow iNZight instructions for bootstrapping a confidence interval for a population parameter.
