Eikosograms to teach conditional and joint probability – Malia Puloka

Malia Puloka’s (Mangere College) workshop looked at visualising data to inform teaching and learning.

Malia’s workshop explored how to teach the concepts of conditional and joint probability using the Eikosogram. Equally important is the interpretation and verbalisation of proportion and probability statements and the posing of questions, which Malia also look at. The workshop was based on Malia’s master’s research with Year 13 students. The Eikosogram is a new computer visualisation tool for displaying two-way table information. This is important pedagogy for the two Probability Externals AS91267 and AS91585. The Eikosogram is accessed online.
