Unit Planning for Junior Statistics and Probability
Ricky Pedersen, from De La Salle College, presents at the joint Auckland Mathematics Association and University of Auckland 2014 Statistics Teachers Day.
Ricky’s workshop shared his experiences of unit planning in a department. Three different unit plan models and the processes that were used at De La Salle College to produce unit plans for statistics and probability for years 7-10 were discussed. These unit plans have been used to teach these topics this year and will be reviewed before we use them again in 2015. Concrete ideas about promoting collaboration within your own department as well as looking at how to modify or adapt your own units of work to include some of the ideas are shared.
