Oxfam: Bringing data to life

The Oxfam website has many statistical based education resources set within the context of the work they do in developing countries. These stats based resources get students creating, comparing and exploring different graphs and the stories they tell about women producing honey for income in Ethiopia.

Bringing data to life for 11 – 14 year olds 6 lessons on scatterplots, interpreting central tendencies and data is available to create graphs in Excel.

Bringing data to life for 14 – 16 year olds 3 lessons on scatter plots, cumulative frequency plots and histograms.

The resources are well supported by excellent contextual material. This is an opportunity for subject teachers to collaborate to support good statistical practice and literacy within schools.

There are many more data based resources on the website. If you develop resources for an NZC setting and want to share with other teachers please get in contact with CensusAtSchool
