Oxfam: Bringing data to life

The Oxfam website has statistical-based education resources set within their work in developing countries.

Aimed at 7 to 16-year-olds, these resources help akonga create, compare and explore different graphs. They also tell stories, for example, women producing honey for income in Ethiopia.

Oxfam’s lesson resources

Bringing data to life for 14 – 16 year olds 3 lessons on scatter plots, cumulative frequency plots and histograms.

Contextual resources support each lesson plan. This is an opportunity for teachers to collaborate to support good statistical practice, numeracy and literacy within schools, helping students explore big issues that we and other countries face.

There are many more data-based resources on the website. If you develop resources for an NZC setting and want to share them with other teachers, please get in contact with CensusAtSchool
