The “Battle” (??) between mathematics and statistics
Dave Phillipps (Lincoln High School) asked why do some students excel in Statistics and others in Mathematics? Does being a good Mathematics teacher make you a good Statistics teacher? Dave’s workshop explored the similarities and differences between these two key areas of our curriculum – Mathematics and Statistics. He reflects on the teaching and learning that goes on in the classroom and the thoughts of some of our students, considering what it is we do in the classroom that can really grow a passion for thinking statistically.
