Probability | Tūponotanga – A guide for teaching probability (ages 5–18) has been created by the New Zealand Statistical Association Education Committee. The Education Committee wishes to thank both the New Zealand Statistical Association (NZSA) and the New Zealand Association of Mathematics Teachers (NZAMT) for their financial support towards the production of this teachers’ guide so that it could be made available electronically to all teachers at no charge.
This teachers’ guide has been created to support teaching probability for students at the schooling level. While the focus has been to create a guide to support teaching the New Zealand Curriculum, we are confident that the materials and ideas are relevant to all jurisdictions.
A primary focus for the book has been to meld teaching and learning practice with research knowledge to provide teachers with guidance that is relevant and practical, and backed by research.
The book is being created in three stages:
Stage 1 (July 2025):
Stage 2 (December 2025): Working titles only
Stage 3 (June 2026): Working titles only
