3.10 Statistical Inferences for Weaker Students

A presentation by Vikki Clarke & Jake Wills from Westlake Boys High School, for the 2013 joint Auckland Mathematics Association and Department of Statistics Statistics Day. Jake and Vikki have prepared an excellent teaching resource for students to explore Level 3 concepts of Inference.

Jake has the latest versions of his resources on his website NZ Maths

Updated 4/7/2014

  • The questions have been changed to ask “what is the difference…” rather than “is there a difference…”
  • The formal inference and conclusion now specifically state median rather than just using ‘on average’

After feedback from the presentation we have updated both the booklet and the high excellence exemplar… if you want an updated copy of them they are available on Maths NZ (follow the source link at the bottom of the article above)

Hi, I would like to find the updated copies but I cannot find the link you refer to. Which of the above is ‘the article’? Hope you can help.
      Thanks

Hi there, it’s where it says “Source: Maths NZ” just above the comments… but it links to http://www.mathsnz.com/ncea-level-3/3-10-formal-inference/3-10-resources

Thanks, great resource. We have adapted it quite a bit to suit our purpose but have given you credit.

No worries… glad to be able to help out… I’m working on a time series booklet at the moment, and there is a bivariate booklet on the website linked above as well.
